HARRISBURG – Rep. Josh Kail (R-Beaver/Washington) announced today that 12 volunteer fire and ambulance companies throughout the 15th District have qualified to receive $230,800 from a grant program administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

“Every dollar dedicated to our fire and ambulance companies is critical as volunteers are fewer and fewer. The funding helps to ensure that we have help when we need it, and I know how critical it is from personal experience,” Kail said. “When my garage burned down a few years ago, help arrived quickly and prevented the fire from moving to my home. That could have been a much different experience had it not been for a great fire department.”

All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue. Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.
