Kail Applauds Energy Harbor’s Decision to Keep Nuclear Plant Open

MONACA – Rep. Josh Kail (R-Beaver/Washington) issued the following statement regarding Energy Harbor’s decision to continue operating its nuclear power plant in Beaver County indefinitely:

“This is tremendous news for Beaver County and the 15th District. I am pleased to see the market make the correct decision in keeping this plant open. This outcome will mean the retention of hundreds of jobs directly and thousands indirectly.

“This choice is great news for our national security, our consumers, our school districts, our community and most of all, our workers. It is good to see Energy Harbor make this choice without market-manipulating legislation. In short, Energy Harbor is betting on the continued success of this facility on its own merit; anytime you bet on Beaver Countians, it’s a good bet.

“We need nuclear energy, and that’s exactly what the market has shown. I could not be more pleased with Energy Harbor’s decision to continue doing business in the 15th District.”
