Kail Criticizes Gov. Wolf’s Decision to Veto Voting Rights Protection Act, Line Item Veto Election Audit

June 30, 2021

HARRISBURG – Rep. Joshua Kail (R-Beaver/Washington) issued the following statement regarding Gov. Tom Wolf’s veto of House Bill 1300, known as the Voting Rights Protection Act, as well as line item veto funding for election audits in the 2021-22 Pennsylvania Budget:

House Bill 1300 addressed issues brought forth to us by election officials and bipartisan groups. We were provided substantial, crucial information to use to create positive change. The bill, which included voter ID laws and funding for election audits, was the necessary step to restore trust with the public. It’s disheartening to see Gov. Wolf turn his back on the citizens of Pennsylvania. I hope the governor and I can have an honest discussion on why Pennsylvania needs to be a leader on this widespread issue.”
