BOILING SPRINGS—Today, Rep. Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland) and the House Republican Policy Committee, led by Chairman Josh Kail (R-Beaver/Washington), convened a hearing to explore and advance pro-business, pro-jobs and pro-family policies that will strengthen Pennsylvania’s future.
The hearing, titled “Pathways to Prosperity: Igniting Growth Through Pro-Family Policies,” featured testifiers David Samella, plant manager, Vitro Architectural Glass; Ryan Heishman, CEO, Allen Distribution; Aaron Riggleman, manager of government affairs, PA Chamber of Business and Industry; and Mark Blanchard, superintendent, Cumberland Valley School District.
The panel of testifiers aligned on key tenets needed to achieve prosperity for Pennsylvania. They include public-private partnerships, economic opportunities and affordable cost of living. There was also agreement that burdensome bureaucracy is an obstacle to opportunity. As Heishman indicated in his testimony, the business climate in Pennsylvania is robust, but it is overshadowed by cumbersome processes and agencies.
“Today’s hearing shined a spotlight on the need to advance policies that are pro-business, pro-jobs and pro-families,” said Kutz. “By prioritizing legislation that meets these goals, we can make communities across the Commonwealth even better places to live, work and raise a family. I remain committed to creating a thriving economic environment for all Pennsylvanians, and it was an honor to feature the 87th District in this important discussion.”
“One thing I am certain of – we should not be talking about Pennsylvania competing. We should be talking about Pennsylvania dominating,” said Kail. “Making people dependent upon government is not helping. We need to get Harrisburg out of the way and lift burdensome bureaucracy so we can encourage growth and economic development for Pennsylvania and get the Commonwealth to reach its greatest potential.”
